I got to do something very out of the ordinary this year. I got to hand deliver 3 CDs to a woman just down the street from where I was staying. (okay read on, that doesn’t sound too out of the ordinary) This woman was a customer who ordered some albums on my website and I realized if they went into the mail she wouldn’t get them in time for Christmas. So I looked up her address and figured out she was so close by I could deliver them faster than the post office and she would have them before Christmas. I mean really? I could have walked to her home. (if it wasn’t snowing and cold maybe I would have) What are the chances of this happening right? I wrapped them in a big bow and included two bonus albums for her as well. I took this picture outside her home just before ringing the belI and I wondered to myself, “will she answer the door?” Ding Dong (Merrily On High… sorry can’t help finishing that thought – I mean song) rang the bell and sure enough she was home. It was so much fun getting to surprise her and also get to visit with her for a minute. I’ve never done anything like it before, it almost felt like a publishers clearing house moment… except I haven’t done that either so how would I know what that feels like?
I loved surprising her and especially getting to know her. She shared some very sweet things with me that brought me to tears. I will never forget being able to personally deliver my music to her. It was almost like I knew I was supposed to do it and I’m so glad I followed through with that thought, prompting, or whatever you want to call it. It made me realize more than ever we need to share. We need to give of ourselves. I think that is why I love music so much. It’s why I love this season so much. We need to share. Music is not for ourselves it is for others. Talents are not for ourselves they are for others. Sharing music is what I love to do and I want to do more of it. How have you shared your gifts with someone this week? I know you have been doing it. Keep at it. You and others will be glad you did. It makes our world a better place, one small sharing moment at a time.
