Who doesn’t like an apple festival? Date Creek Ranch has beautiful apple trees! I enjoyed getting a great amount this past weekend and also picked up some apple butter, and honey at the farm. Fresh from the tree is always best. I remember picking apples at a farm in Ohio and making tons of apple butter and canning 36 jars of golden delicious apples. The best apple cider I’ve ever tasted was in upstate New York, but Date Creek had a pretty good one as well. They had two different varieties of apples available including golden delicious, and braeburn. The best part was getting to pick as many as I wanted. They had a yummy BBQ going with their 100% grass feed pork or beef. The cool thing about going to this place was not only the organic farming, and beautiful horses, the best part about it was that I felt like I wasn’t in the hot Arizona desert. It is not too far away to travel and it made for a nice get-a-way. I got to pick my own fruit and come home and make many delicious recipes, including apple cake, apple crisp, and salted caramel dip! The only thing missing at the festival was some music. Maybe I can do something about that next year?
