“Oh Holy Night” by Vanessa Joy is the last song found on the Classical Crossover Christmas CD entitled “Joy To The World” by Vanessa Joy and can be found here or you can listen to it here in Vanessa Joy’s store or here or another performance here on youtube. “O Holy Night” is a well-known Christmas Carol that has been around since 1847 composed by Adolphe Adam. The lyrics are a French poem by Placide Cappeau. It is sung throughout the world at Christmas time and has been a favorite of mine for many years. It talks about Christ’s birth and the chorus, “Fall on your knees” has always brought me to tears while singing with a choir. The melody is so strong and powerful and hits you right in the heart. It’s a piercing message with this music.
“O Holy Night” was arranged by Vanessa Joy and Marvin Goldstein. I love how the theme is played continuously throughout the song and that is does not deviate as it continues to keep repeating and come back in the end as well. This is a fun song to sing because so many people enjoy hearing it and it brings a message of peace. It takes a lot of breath support to keep the high notes solid and strong.
I remember as a child my mother explaining to me how she was able to sing this song in a choir. She said each time that the chorus was heard, it was loud and strong and all the harmonies together brought so much power. I too feel the same way about how this song delivers such a powerful message. I hope and pray that as you listen to it, you may feel the power of our Savior Jesus Christ. I hope and pray that you feel His love for you this Christmas. Listen to the music and let it bless your life. Merry Christmas!
